Australian Resin Bodies

The following bodies are by Australian resin model companies such as Jaymar Model Parts, C.J.’s Scale Auto Parts and Cavalier Model Productions. We usually stock all the models pictured below. (Please be patient while the thumbnail pictures load.) If it is currently unavailable it will be noted with the description.

With the exception of the Cavalier kits, all the models pictured require the use of a donor kit or kits for the basic chassis, interior, engine and associated parts.

The Cavalier kits are complete kits molded in urethane resin, the Jaymar model bodies are molded in fibreglass resin with detail parts such as grilles, bumpers etc molded in urethane. C.J.’s Auto Model Parts bodies are molded in a polyester urethane, with detail parts again molded in urethane.

Windows. Neither Jaymar or C.J. provide windows with their bodies, they require the builder to provide clear acetate or plastic to make the windows, while the Cavalier Torana and Monaro kits provide vacuum formed windows.

Assembly. All these bodies require the use of superglue or epoxy based glues.

Painting. All types of paints maybe used on these resin bodies, including automotive paints such as acrylic lacquers, catylized enamels and of course model paints, however normal precautions should be followed if using auto paints on the plastic donor kit parts.

Decals. Only the Cavalier Torana and Monaro kits have decals, i.e. the correct SLR graphics, Monaro scripts etc.

Donor Kits. Most resin bodies come with a specific donor kit recommendation, however due to the fact that plastic model kits are regularly deleted by model companies it may happen that the recommended kit may be deleted and consequently difficult to find. On the other hand, new, better donor kits are sometimes introduced by the plastic kit companies and where known, this information will be passed on. The donor kit suggestions beside each picture of the resin bodies are just that, suggestions, as the model builder’s intentions to build a factory stock model or a full on drag car, may mean that another donor kit not mentioned may be more suitable.

the 49 Mercury, 49 Ford Sedan Delivery, 50 Buick, 54 Lincoln and 55 Cadillac are resin bodies of US cars, not Australian.

34. 72 Holden LJ Torana GTR XU1, # CJFCB2 - $44.50 CJ’s Scale Auto Parts, includes RHD dash, grille, bumpers, lights, spoilers, hood, engine bay, suits AMT 69 Mustang Mach 1 (from which it was mastered) to supply chassis and interior tub. Note that a "202" Holden 6 #CJRCE6 ($17.00) is available separately, as are correct Globe "Sprint" style wheels, # CJRCW3 ($14.00). You can use most mid 60's Chevelles, or Novas particularly the AMT 72 Nova. UNAVAILABLE.

35. 1971 Valiant Charger, # CP003 - $75.00 by CerParts, in urethane resin, this is a 1/25th scale conversion kit, it includes the body shell with engine bay,separate hood,dash,steering wheel,seats,interior tub,shifter,265 Hemi 6, triple webers, aircleaners, extractors(headers), starter, dissy, fan, belt/pulleys, front/rear bumpers, twin fuel fillers and choice of 1971 VH or 1973 VJ grilles, uses the AMT 1971 Plymouth Duster for chassis pan & suspension.

35a. 1972 Valiant 4Dr Sedan, # CP002 - $60.00 by CerParts, in urethane resin, this is a 1/25th scale resin conversion kit, includes the body shell with engine bay, separate hood, grille, front and rear bumpers, dash and steering wheel, mastered from the AMT 1971 Plymouth Duster which is used to provide the interior,suspension, and small block Mopar V8 if wanted.....note that a resin 265 Hemi 6 is also available for $$16.00 (listed on the Cars, Aftermarket page under #CP001)

36. Cavalier have just released their latest resin kit, the V8 Interceptor, this is a 1/25th scale urethane resin curbside kit of this well known car, featuring a correct "monza" style front, big 6-71 GMC blower and Scott style scoop, detailed interior, dash, seats, steering wheel, detailed chassis pan, wheels,tyres, windows etc......this is a once only release of this car, price is $79.95 plus postage UNAVAILABLE

37. 77 Holden Torana A9X Hatch,#CV2404 - Now available again! Cavalier Model Productions, complete curbside kit, includes interior, seats, RHD dash, steering wheel, shifter, windows, wheels, tyres, chromed metal bumpers, grille, lights, correct decals, reversed hood scoop, console - the AMT 67/68 Camaro and or Revell 69 Camaro have been seen to be used to provide a more detailed chassis and running gear on these models, tho’ this conversion is quite difficult.
